Advanced Functional Restoration Program of Oakland
This is a comprehensive program designed to do the following:

• Restore patients’ ability to function independently at work and in their daily activities of living
• Improve patients' overall motivation to change and get better through cognitive behavioral therapy and individual and group counseling
• Assess progress weekly to demonstrate program efficacy
• Reduce sleep loss and depression
• Reduce medication dependency through a closely monitored team approach
• Reintegrate patients into a more functional lifestyle through educational group activities, such as resume building and role-playing

We offer the following:
Comprehensive Multidisciplinary Evaluation
Patients are given a comprehensive, multidisciplinary evaluation by our physiatrist, psychiatrist, physical therapist, and licensed marriage and family therapist.
Physical Rehabilitation
Our physicians and licensed physical therapists use functional capacity testing to customize a physical therapy treatment plan that is monitored with an emphasis on tracking functional improvement. Patients have the option to participate in acupuncture sessions, yoga and other alternative medicine therapies.
Cognitive Behavioral Training
Coping skills for pain and stress management, relaxation techniques and biofeedback are offered.
Medication Management
With a team approach, our physicians carefully review each patient’s current medication regimen with the goal of reducing medication dependency by restoring physical function.
Psychological Therapy
Individualized and group therapy sessions that address stress, depression, anger and sleep disorders.
